Self Catering Accommodation in superb surroundings
The accommodation comprises upstairs twin bedroom, kitchen/ dining/ lounge, through single bedroom and shower/ cloakroom. We also have a superb oak conservatory overlooking the stream which makes a lovely sunroom by day, and star watching area by night. It has underfloor heating, and makes an ideal retreat for any time of the year. All rooms are furnished to a high standard, with all linen, bedding, towels, heating and lighting included.

The Central Heating is by means of a Combi boiler, all radiators having controllable thermostats, and the shower is of a high specification. The kitchen is well equipped with microwave and LPG gas cooker. You have your own lawned garden area with hardwood seating, ample car park/ hardstanding, and patio area overlooking the stream and hillside.

We provide a smoke-free environment (the smoke detectors are very sensitive!) and plenty of books, games and puzzles. We are fortunate enough not to be able to receive a television signal, so your peace and quiet is guaranteed! There are also maps, tourist information leaflets for the area, and free sheets of wonderful local walks devised by us to take you straight from the door.

For disabled guests, we can meet M1, M2, H1 and V1 standards. Please enquire for other special needs. Please note that the naturally hilly terrain of the immediate area may affect some disabilities. We have a comprehensive Access Statement, a copy of which will be sent to you upon request to ensure that what you see is what you get.

Newspapers and milk are delivered regularly to the door. The nearest shopping centre is three miles. If you are travelling by public transport, we can shop before your arrival if we know in advance. One mile away is a micro brewery and you can order some real ale in advance of your arrival if you wish. We keep a few chickens, so occasionally have some eggs that you can have.

You can reach us by regular bus (32a service connects with national train services at Uttoxeter rail station and national coach at Hanley bus station); alight at Greendale. It is a ten minute walk down hill from there. For car drivers, we are located between the B5032 and B5417, south of Oakamoor. Full transport information/ map will be sent with your booking confirmation.

The Annexe at The Old Furnace ia an ideal base for a short break whether you are walking, birdwatching, fishing, or simply sightseeing. A Staffordshire Moorlands walk (leaflets available) takes you directly from The Old Furnace into Dimmingsdale, a valley of extreme beauty with tree-shaded pools, woodland walks and rocky outcrops. Within one mile are Hawksmoor National Trust Nature Reserve and Cotton Dell, described by David Bellamy as one of the finest valleys of its type that he had ever seen. The pretty stone village of Alton, with its viewpoint of Toothill Rock, the panoramic Weaver Hills and the delightful Caldon Canal, are all within walking distance.

The Staffordshire Peak District is a Biodiversity Enhancement Area (BEA), which in simple terms means we have a greater variety of flora and fauna than most other places in England. It also contains some of the best scenery in the country.

Suitable for one to three persons, The Annexe- in the grounds of The Old Furnace- overlooks a trickling brook as it wends its way past the leafy hillsides towards the pools of Dimmingsdale and the River Churnet. It is situated in the delightful Churnet Valley, with Dimmingsdale (Forest Enterprise) and Hawksmoor Nature Reserve (National Trust) both a five minute walk away. The Staffordshire Peak District is one of the finest areas of England for scenery.

Known as "The Annexe", your accommodation is completely self-contained and is separated from the main house by a garden and driveway. You are therefore far enough from us so we are not "in your face", but close enough should you need us.
